International Order of Odd Fellows

(Reprinted from Elmer Centennial, 1987)

Elmer was blessed with numerous social organizations, beginning in the late 1800's up until the 1970's when the population dwindled to the point where the organizations were unable to sustain enough members to continue. One of the earliest organizations was the International Order of Odd Fellows, an organization for men to provide a positive social presence in the community. The following picture was taken circa 1900, showing a healthy membership. I know little else about the order.

SEATED, L. to R.: unknown, Sam Gash, T. I. Murry, Hemmit Dale, W. T. Galyen and unknown. MIDDLE ROW: far right, Henry Miller. BACK ROW: Extreme left, William Dale and extreme right, David Galyen.
