Mrs. Stella Baker

Stella Mae (Wiggans) Baker worked five years as a waitress on the railroad gang. She waited tables for 34 indians in Illinois and Iowa for four years, and during the last year, she worked in Oklahoma.  Mrs. Baker stated, "They were all very nice to me." She worked with Anna Tate one year and with Crystal Dunlap for four years. Mrs. Baker began waiting tables after her husband, (Lloyd) died.

Grandchildren and great grandchildren occupy her time at present. She also enjoys cooking.  Mrs. Baker attended school at Mercyville until it consolidated with Elmer. She went to school in Elmer for one year.  Mrs. Bonnie Lene and Mrs. Freda Cheek of Elmer are her daughters.
